Company Culture is Foundational - 9 Core Things to Evaluate Every Week
Posted by: Alec Hartman
Okay, so everyone tosses around the idea that their company has great 'culture' .. that's awesome. Is it because you have great people? Is it because you buy them stuff? How do people think of the culture of the company when theres a problem or when its crunch time? Is everyone always cognizant of how the company is doing all the time?
When Jesse P and I created DevShop, we wanted to be sure we always looked at how we were doing as a company. So, we identified 9 core things we wanted to grade ourselves on every week (from A-F). Now, even through we've grown 5x in 6-months we still have our whole team grade our 11 core's and set a weekly goal every week.
In order to make this fun, I borrowed a bit from an amazing mentor of mine - my TechStars Managing Director Nicole Glaros. On individual goals, when someone meets their goals they get a shot of good tequila, when someone misses, its the worst tequila you can imagine.
So, there you have it, each week our whole team looks at each of our 9 core's and each member sets an individual goal. This has contributed to amazing 'culture' for us as a company, and real honest-feedback from our team members on how we're doing.
Okay... here are the 9 core's we look at each week:
3. Client Satisfaction
8. Business Development
9. Community Interaction
