Getting a FinTech Startup Off the Ground with APIs
Posted by: Dan Palmer
Empire Startups, the largest FinTech meetup in the world, put on a great event last night, with a truly all-star panel to discuss how entrepreneurs could leverage APIs when building out their platform. Even the headliner, Melissa Stevens, North American Head of Internet and Mobile Banking at Citigroup, was hilariously called out as running the largest software development firm in the world. But for the entrepreneurs in the crowd, the two standouts were Christine Loredo, of Yodlee Interactive, and Gordon Zhang, of Dwolla.
Gordon and Christine spoke eloquently about how leveraging APIs can help startups get off the ground by offering near-turnkey solutions, whether for moving funds around the globe, or managing accounts and transactions. Gordon, a true developer evangelist, talked about the value of tech mentorship, and Christine touted Yodlee's commitment to helping startups via their incubator. FinTech entrepreneurs, in particular, can employ a variety of APIs to handle some of the complex and regulated functions that are a necessary part of executing their vision.
Here at DevShop, we have extensive experience working with API providers to help startups execute their vision, and we're proudly a preferred developer for Yodlee's API. Feel free to reach out and tell us what you're working on; we'd love to help!
